El Nido Island Hopping Tour C
A few days after getting to El Nido and pretty much doing absolutely nothing, we finally broke down and booked a day tour (Tour C). Having just come off a five day Tao Expeditions trip, we had low expectations since for these day trips, instead of being off the grid, we’d be herded along with the massive crowds. That fear really took hold that evening when we sat having cocktails at Mezzanine El Nido around 4 o’clock, the time when the boat tours begin to return to town… It reminded me of an amphibious invasion seen in so many World War II movies – boat after boat pulling up 10 meters offshore while streams of infantry (tourists) made their way in to the water and on to shore.
But island hopping tours are what you do in El Nido and with the exception of hiring a private boat, all tours generally follow the same paths and itineraries, starting at 9 am and returning around 4 pm:
- Tour A: Miniloc Island, Simisu Island, 7 Commando Beach, Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon,
- Tour B: Snake Island, Cudugnon Cave, Lagen Island, Inabuyutan Island, Cathedral Cave
- Tour C: Hidden Beach, Matinloc Island & Shrine, Tapiutan Island, Secret Beach, Helicopter Island
- Tour D: Helicopter Island, Ubugon Lagoo
I simply gave up trying to pick one. Looking at the itineraries, it seemed like we had already done a stop on each with Tao so no matter what, we were going to see something again. I can think of worse things in life so with ‘Tour C’ supposedly being the “most beautiful one,” it seemed like the logical choice.
I feel like I wanted to be disappointed in the trip, but it was still really awesome… I now regret not doing the other tours as well while I was there.
