Hunkering Down in the South Fork Cascade Canyon
The Teton Crest Trail, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
Trekking from the Death Canyon Shelf to the South Fork of Cascade Canyon.
Coming down Hurricane Pass, we were really rushing through the South Fork Cascade Canyon. The weather had definitely taken a turn for the worse and rain was immanent. We just wanted to get our tents set up before it started, but at the same time, we wanted to get further in to the canyon to shorten the next day up to the Paintbrush Divide. Finally about halfway down the camping zone, we found an awesome site next to a raging cascading waterfall along Cascade Creek. Getting situated, the skies opened up with some sleet seconds before I finished putting my rainfly on. Disappointing, but the timing was definitely perfect.
It poured on and off for the next few hours, before clearing up just enough for us to cook some dinner in the open. However, the temperature had significantly dropped forcing us to retreat to sleeping bags, just in time for the rain to start up again.
