Ko Olina – “Place of Joy”

Ko Olina – “Place of Joy”
Oahu, Hawaii

“For as long as anyone can remember, Ko Olina has been a place of joy. Hawaiian nobility once sojourned here when weary of the cares of state. The royal chiefs, their wives, children and retinues came to fish in the bountiful waters, bath in the sacred pools, race their outrigger canoes and celebrate life in their island paradise.” – (KoOlina.com)

Ko Olina is a planned resort and residential community encompassing 642 acres along Oahu’s leeward coast. It’s home to four hotel and vacation club resorts including the newly opened Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, where I was lucky enough to spend six nights. The whole area is a beautifully landscaped gated community with sweeping ocean and mountain views and a string of four jewel-like lagoons connected by more than a mile and a half of seaside pathways.

I only drove through the hub of Waikiki, but I’m pretty happy my time was spent in Ko Olina instead…
