Last Dollar Road
The San Juan Mountains, Colorado
We had no idea Last Dollar Road was going to be a jeep trail. It was an easy, but an offroad trail nonetheless that took much more time than we expected.
When leaving Telluride on 145 to head back to Ridgeway along the standard, paved route, I saw a right-hand turn for Last Dollar Road. Thinking back to the morning before while frantically driving around the Dallas Divide to find the shot I wanted, we had ended up on Last Dollar Road. Putting two and two together with our rampant ‘why not’ mentality, decided to take the long route along the 1800s old mining supply trail winding up the west of Mt. Sneffels through low valleys and aspen groves with incredible vistas towards Wilson Peak, the basis for the Coors bottle.
What an awesome casual decision that turned out to be.
