Red Mountain Pass

Red Mountain Pass
The San Juan Mountains, Colorado

Red Mountain Pass was another trail the jeep shop had told us about. We were already heading back to Ouray along the Million Dollar Highway and since the trail looked short and we were feeling cocky in my brand-new jeep, we figured ‘why not?’ Paralleling Route 550 old mining ruins are definitely the trails highlight as it passes by Cora Belle Mine, Robinson Mine, Yankee Girl Mine, Genessee Mine, Magnolia Shaft Mine, National Bell Mine, and Copper King Mine.

We did not run the entire trail and instead popped back out on to the highway near Ironton, where we had started the day up Corkscrew Gulch.

I know I’m being picky, but it was probably the low-light of the day. It was just such an awesome day…
