Selvatura Park Tree Top Walkways & Suspension Bridges
Monteverde, Costa Rica
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is undoubtedly beautiful, but to me, it was literally a walk through the forest; I’m an in-you-face vista kind of guy whereas the cloud forest has a subtle beauty. Had a jaguar jumped out on the trail in front of us, I’d be singing a different tune, but some birds chirping in some dense forest around me just don’t get me going. So for me, one of the highlights of that reserve was the short suspension bridge – it was unique (to me) and as close to a ‘vista’ as I got in the park. (The actual vistas were too socked in the clouds to see more than 10′ out…)
So for our final morning in Monteverde, we decided to head back to where we ziplined for the Selvatura Park Tree Top Walkways and Suspension Bridges tour; A 1.9 mile (3 km) trail meandering through the forest crossing 8 different suspension bridges all between 150 feet (50m) to 510 feet long and 36 feet (12m) to 180 feet (60m) high.
To me, this was more entertaining than the actual reserve.
