Sunrise at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park
Delicate Arch, a 65ft (20m) Entrada Sandstone arch in Arches National Park, is the unofficial symbol of Utah and arguably one of the most beautiful and iconic arches in the world. Its image graces postcards, magazines, books, posters, signs, billboards, stamps, licence plates, and of course millions of traveler’s photo albums. It’s amazing to think that this arch played no part in the original designation of the area as a U.S. National Monument and wasn’t even included within the original park boundaries.*
I had been up there a few times, but only to photograph at sunset. This time, I decided on a 5:30 a.m. hike to shoot sunrise was in order…
*It was added when the monument was enlarged in 1938.
