Sunset Over North Clear Creek Falls
Rio Grande National Forest, Colorado
Unlike the Pacific Northwest or Yosemite National Park, Colorado isn’t known for it’s waterfalls. They’re out there, but many times they tend to be more of a series of cascades, which is just not as impressive or photogenic as their bigger relatives. I knew the 100′ North Clear Creek Falls in the Rio Grande National Forest wasn’t going to make my jaw drop, but it did look beautiful. It was in an area of southern Colorado that I had never even driven through and since I was heading down to Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve, I figured I’d take a detour to check it out. Turns out, the falls and sand dunes are not close to each other at all, but when I get something stuck in my head, I typically will just do it because I’m stubborn like that.
I may have turned a 3.5 hour drive into a a 7-hour one, but luckily I enjoy road trips, especially on scenic byways. Plus I had podcasts to catch up on…
