Tonsai Bay & Malacca Strait Boat Tour
Since so far at Tonsai, we had done absolutely nothing, we decided to book an all day boat tour to some different islands in the Malacca Strait. Having never done one of these, we had no idea what to expect…
After picking up a couple at West Railay, the longboat headed straight for Tup Island to the South. The guides told us we had an hour or so to explore or swim… along with another 200 people who have been dropped off by their boats along the 200 yard sandbar. (No exaggeration on the crowds – years later, I found this…) It was beautiful, yet so far from an ideal setting. At least until I waded to the back sside of the island overlooking Koh Poda.
After loading back up, the tour then took us around the other side of Ko Po Da Nok (next to Tup Island) for some snorkeling before heading to Koh Poda for some lunch surrounded by long-tailed Macaques.
Loading back up and as the afternoon storms rolled in, our last stop was at Phra Nang Beach and Nang Cave on the back on the mainland and the South side of Railay.
After such a stressful day (sarcasm…) some more time at Chill Bar was needed along with some clearing of the storms…
I know I didn’t spend much time on Koh Phi Phi, but I was pretty happy with the decision to spend more time in Tonsai.
